The term “brand” is thrown about a lot these days but, as a real estate agent, your professional brand is your entire business! Luckily for you there are some cheap and easy solutions to build your professional brand with social media.
The opportunities now available to businesses now on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter are seemingly endless! While some services, particularly straight up advertising, will incur fees you may want to eventually budget for, if you’re strategic you can use social media to market yourself for free. It’s all about the “ask.” Ask friends to like your page, share your posts and get creative with how you do it.
One of the most creative (and cheap) campaigns I’ve ever seen on Facebook was by a photographer and it required virtually no marketing budget. She simply wrote a post and included a picture from all the sessions she’d done that year and asked people to compete to get the most “likes” for their images. This “12 Days of Christmas” promotion had everyone sharing their photo which was branded by her, not only showcasing her talent but creating brand awareness. If you think I didn’t want to share the pictures of my baby from our sweet newborn session while also trying to win a gift card for $25, then you are just plain wrong. So clever! And because it was organic, the reach was probably more valuable than a paid advertisement.
You’re probably asking now “that’s great, but how can I do something like that for MY job?” A way to convert this to the world of real estate is to create a year recap post that includes a picture of each home you sold that year. Invite your clients to share with a quick blurb about their experience working with you as an agent and offer prizes for the most “likes” they get. Use local vendors in the area to obtain gift cards in exchange for promoting them during your campaign. It is important to highlight to the vendors how many homes you’ve sold (hopefully a sizable amount) and how many followers you have if you want to secure some good prizes!
